University Joint Committee on Tax Reform Committee

As you read the local papers, or this blog, the University, some time ago, decided to change its taxation system student. Like I've already written in an old post .
Following this approval was set up a joint committee of the University until June by establishing the parameters for the issuance of awards of merit. This committee is composed of a student representative for faculty, the deans (or their proxies) and prof. Ceredigion (delegate of the Rector). For
Sociology, other representatives on the Joint (Sorina and Elizabeth) have transferred me to go (and I can only thank them for the trust).

These criteria must be identified to give an award to 50% of graduates. The criteria for assessing proposed in this draft are 4:
- duration of study: 3 years plus 1 for the three-year, 2 +1 for the specialist, 5 +2 degrees for one cycle (Law and Engineering). Exceeded the year's delay will not be entitled to any prize.
- studies abroad: 35 or 45 points for the double degree. Credits abroad (Erasmus): 25 * (crediti/40), maximum 25 points.
- the first year of study: 30 * (crediti/60) * (Average ratings / media faculty)
- On the right: maximum 30, and established by the faculty.
These four criteria are added at the end of the course of study, and this "ranking" are awarded half of the graduates.

Now that we have this first draft, I asked other representatives to see us to formulate a joint proposal on some critical issues.
The most important, Sociology, and duration. Tomorrow the committee will discuss the reform on a proposal that, among other things, provides for the reduction of the appeals of graduation. Personally I was not opposed to a reduction in the number of appeals (it is irrational to graduate in January and then after 15 days in February), but now if the month is more or less decided whether to give the prize - or not - the question becomes one profoundly different.
As the sense of reform is to put students in competition with each other, increasing taxes at all and turning the extragettito the middle of them, people can not stop a few feet to the finish line, asking him to wait months for the next Appeal degree. The risk of losing the advantage gained in the race is too high.
Here's what bothers me most of the reform: this race finish applied to the students. While advancing to the teachers' length of service. " Mostly because I do not think the study is a race with others, but a time dedicated to themselves and their own interests.
But, to put it as the prof. Waxy "is not a race, it's just life." And I might add a final dry and "baby": if only I had a glass in hand, a deep voice, a long coat and clear my name Humphrey Bogart.
